HistotechnologistSign On Bonus: $5,000!Job Specific Competencies:Use equipment and instruments including microscopes, microtomes and other lab equipment.Receive specimen/tissue from procedures, operating room, diagnostic procedures and/or other autopsy.Sort specimen according to priority and difficulty of procedures and records in pathology log.Embeds specimens into blocks and fixes tissue in formalin.Operates instrumentation for tissue dehydration, section clearing, impregnation with paraffin, cutting tissue section, and staining of slides.Minimum Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited Histotechnology programMinimum experience as a Histology Technician or have a minimum of one year of training under the direction of a registered Histology TechnologistLicensing and Certification: American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Histotechnologist (HTL)Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g. face mask, goggles, latex/no latex gloves) as neededAbility to work effectively within the role independently and with other team membersAbility to organize and complete work task in a timely mannerAbility to read, write, and effectively communicate in EnglishAbility to understand medical/surgical terminologyWork Environment:Conditions common to a clinic environment including communicable disease, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and toxic substances, hazardous materials.
